In 2007, Google launched the Lunar X Prize, a challenge for privately-funded spaceflight teams to be the first to land a robotic spacecraft on the moon, have it travel 500 meters, and beam back high-def images to Earth. And now 16 teams are awfully close to winning.
Moon Shot, a nine-episode documentary series produced by J.J. Abrams tells the stories of those 16 teams.
Google asked us to help launch the films at SXSW, finding a name and tagline for the series, creating the branding and making a big buzz for the premiere event.
A special premiere event launched the movie in SXSW 2016. Participants from the teams were present with their creations and a secret after party reveled itself but only for those who could crack a simple equation.
Heating up or getting the invite wet would reveal the invite to the afterparty.
